Blackthorn Restaurant and Pub: South Buffalo's Best

Wow.

That was the first word that came out of my mouth after taking a bite into a mouthwatering pulled pork sandwich, smothered in cheddar cheese and topped with coleslaw and fried onions compressed between 2 softly toasted rolls….  That was a mouthful (no pun intended).  I then proceeded to try the homemade jalapeno cheddar tater tots.  I was overwhelmed by a combination of flavors like nothing I had tasted before, and I was thoroughly impressed. All items listed under the "house favorites" section on the menu are served with this Blackthorn original favorite. The best way to describe these jalapeno cheddar tater tots would be warm, cheesy, jalapeno-flavored potato-centered balls fried in breadcrumbs. They are to die for!

I’m sure after reading that description, you will not be surprised to hear that South Buffalo's Blackthorn Restaurant & Pub was featured on Food Network, on the well-known show Diners, Dive-ins and Dives (Stephanie Abrams, 2010) in season 8 episode 5 (if you're curious and want to check it out). If Guy Fieri feels this restaurant is worthy of being featured on his show, then it has to be good, right? I would have to say that they are truly deserving of this honor.

Not only was the food great, but the customer service was exceptional.

One customer simply stated, "The food was great. The service was great, and the beer was even better."

Yes, it is a pub, so they do serve beer and have a selection of Irish "beer foods," such as the Irish beer cheddar soup, corned beef cabbage rolls and several other starters. They are known for their beef-on-weck, ruebens, crab cakes and delicious fish fries.

Another customer commented, "I was very impressed with the food, the fast service, and the delicious jalapeno cheddar tater tots. The atmosphere is great for sitting at the bar, or having a sit-down meal."

The casual atmosphere allows for fine-dining and a small bar. The restaurant is dimly lit, characterized with wood floors, tables and chairs, and detailed with Irish green elements. It is definitely suitable for a sit-down, inexpensive family meal. You won't be disappointed by the food, prices, atmosphere or service.
